William A. Wise Biography

William A Wise is the retired chairman, president and chief executive officer of El Paso Corporation. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University and received his law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law, where he was an editor of the University of Colorado Law Review.  Wise is a member of the Colorado Bar Association.

He is a former chairman of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America and the National Petroleum Council. He is a member of the board of directors of the Center for Houston’s Future and the Texas Governor’s Business Council. He is a former board member of the Greater Houston Partnership and the Sam Houston Area Council for the Boy Scouts of America. Wise serves on the board of governors for the Houston Forum, a member of the board of trustees of the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, co-chairman of the board of directors of the Houston Music Hall Foundation, a member of the Rice University Jones Graduate School of Management Council of Overseers, and a member of the University of Texas Development Board. Wise also serves on the board of visitors for The Menninger Clinic. 

He and his family reside in Houston, Texas.
