Law Library to move to shared systems with University Libraries.

In June 2023, The William A. Wise Law Library and the University of Colorado Boulder University Libraries are moving to a shared library services platform called FOLIO to manage the libraries’ resources and materials. The LSP is an essential library technology. It enables libraries to lend items, manage electronic resources, and populate a library catalog. In academic libraries, LSPs are large, complex, and customized - as well as costly because there are very few commercial providers.

The adoption of FOLIO supports technologies that are open, interoperable, universally designed, and prioritize user privacy.

What do you need to know?

Part of this move includes moving towards new discovery systems.  This means that the current platforms which you are familiar seeing on our website for searching our books and articles – LawPac (the catalog) and Summon - will no longer be available. Instead, the Wise Law Library will be using the Library Catalog and OneSearch in a combined catalog with the University Libraries, offering you more resources at your fingertips.

These new discovery systems will also necessitate the transformation of the dual-search box on the home page, so expect changes to our website’s landing page as well.

The regional interlibrary loan system, Prospector, will be unavailable during the transition to our new shared system. We are working on integrating Prospector into the new system, but do not yet have a date when Prospector lending will resume.

The library will still take interlibrary loan requests, but delivery times may be significantly slower than usual.  If you would like to request a book via ILL, please use FirstSearch or contact us at lawref@colorado.edu.
